Noise Phobia Support – 5 x 1:1 Training Sessions
Does your dog panic at the sound of fireworks, thunder, gunshots, or even household noises like the vacuum cleaner? You’re not alone — studies estimate that 25–50% of dogs experience some level of noise sensitivity, with many developing extreme fear responses that can seriously affect their wellbeing and your quality of life together.
This personalised Noise Phobia Support Course is designed to help dogs who are fearful, anxious, or reactive around noises. Across five one-to-one sessions, we’ll work at your dog’s pace to:
Understand their triggers and fear response
Begin safe, structured desensitisation
Introduce counter-conditioning techniques
Build coping strategies for both you and your dog
Prepare calmly and confidently for events like Bonfire Night, New Year’s Eve, and storms
Desensitisation is a gradual process. It involves safely exposing your dog to low-level versions of their fear triggers (like recorded fireworks at a low volume) in a way that doesn’t overwhelm them. Over time, this helps change their emotional response — turning panic into neutrality or even positivity.
The science behind this comes from classical conditioning: by pairing a once-scary noise with something your dog enjoys (like food or play), we change the association from “this is frightening” to “this means something good might happen.”
But timing is everything. This training must begin well in advance of firework season, when fear responses aren’t already heightened. Waiting until just before Bonfire Night risks reinforcing the fear, not reducing it.
