My Paw-sitive Journey
When I first started dog walking, it all began with my own dog, Gem. We both loved being outdoors — walking, exploring, and finding new trails through the woods. There was such freedom in it; that quiet kind of peace that clears your head and makes everything feel lighter. Those walks became our favourite time of day — just me, Gem, and the simple joy of being outside together.
The solitude, the fresh air, and that steady rhythm of paws on the path became my calm place. I realised I wanted more of that — and I wanted to share it.
Finding Joy in Dog Walking
Of course, group walks aren’t always peaceful (if you know, you know!). There are muddy paws, tangled leads, and the occasional chaos of recall when someone decides a squirrel looks far too interesting.
But even in the mayhem, I adore it. Watching dogs interact, play, and communicate is endlessly fascinating. Each group has its own little dynamic that shifts and changes depending on who’s there that day — it’s like watching a living, breathing conversation in motion.
I love seeing the shy dogs slowly come out of their shells, the confident ones adjust to the group, and the moments of pure, shared joy when they all run together through the woods.
Stepping Into Dog Training
As time went on, I started noticing how many of the dogs I walked struggled in certain areas — and how many owners felt unsure about what to do next. They’d say things like, “He listens to you, but not me,” or “I just don’t know where I’m going wrong.”
That struck a chord with me, because I know how frustrating that can feel. I wanted to help bridge that gap between dogs and their people — to help owners feel empowered, not overwhelmed.
That’s what led me to step into training. I became a qualified dog trainer and am now expanding my knowledge even further through an Advanced Canine Behaviour course. I’m passionate about understanding the why behind behaviour, not just the what.
What I Love About Each Role
Dog walking keeps me grounded. It’s where I recharge — surrounded by nature, dogs, and that easy kind of peace you only find outdoors.
Training, though, lights a different spark. There’s nothing quite like seeing an owner’s face change when something clicks — that moment when they realise they can do it. When a dog who once pulled, barked, or ignored them suddenly looks up and listens, it’s magic. Watching those partnerships grow stronger session by session is honestly one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
Two Paths, One Passion
Dog walking and dog training might look different on the surface, but to me, they’re deeply connected. Both are about building trust, nurturing relationships, and understanding dogs for who they truly are.
Whether I’m in the woods with a lively spaniel group or in class helping a new puppy learn the ropes, my goal is the same — to help dogs and their humans build calm, confident, happy partnerships.
That’s the heart of The Paw-sitive Experience.
